1. Creative Writing for Primary Students

Every Child is Creative!

All children have fantastic imaginations and the ability to create wonderful stories. However, many of them are not able to reproduce these interesting stories during composition lessons. The reason is simple. Although story-telling comes naturally to children, the ability to craft a coherent story in words is a skill that has to be learnt. All children can learn this skill!

                    Contents:
                         1.      What makes a good story?
                                      The basic story structure that makes a story interesting.
                         2.      Writing effective sentences.
                                      Various ways to craft sentences and paragraphs to make the
                                      story come alive.
                         3.      Reading and Editing.
                                      Reading through stories and deciding what works and why.
                                      Children do not read other stories to copy ideas but to see
                                      what skills are needed to write an effective story.

2. Creative Writing for Secondary Students

The Creative Writing Workshops aim to create writers who write intelligently and passionately! Each workshop is designed to help students analyze various forms of writing from creative stories to poetry to argumentative essays. The students will be shown various ways to read critically so as to be able to write not just coherently, but with flair as well!

Contents:

-   Language analysis - to understand the way language is used for maximum effect.

  - Writing structure – to appreciate the conventions of genre.

- Vocabulary Building – similes, metaphors, personification, descriptive phrases.

  - Importance of Style – cohesion and clarity in writing.

- Personalized Feedback – individual attention to help students at the level at which
     they are writing.
